A LITTLE CLARITY

Privacy & how we work

Independent local listings

Food offers cover Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Lindfield and Hassocks. Kids’ Meals & Deals covers Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Lindfield and Hassocks. Things to Do covers a 15-mile straight-line radius of Haywards Heath town centre, measured from The Orchards. Distances and map positions are approximate, not travel distances. Venues control prices, availability and terms. A listing does not imply a partnership or verification by the venue. Book, claim and pay directly with the venue.

Keeping offers current

Each offer links to its source and displays its check date. Offers expire automatically and are hidden when their review deadline passes. Use “Report incorrect or expired offer” to flag a problem. Dietary labels reflect the source; always discuss allergies directly with the venue.

Your choices and data

You can browse without an account. Device-only favourites and preferences use your browser’s storage. When you sign in with ChatGPT, we use the identity supplied by that service to keep your What’s On favourites and preferences in our database. We do not receive your ChatGPT conversations or password.

Account information is used to provide the features you request. Your optional dietary filters describe food you want to see; we do not infer medical conditions or religion. Keep those choices on your device if you prefer not to sync them.

We do not use advertising cookies. Optional Google Analytics, when connected, only loads after you choose “Accept analytics”. Precise location, if requested for sorting, remains in the current page and is not stored in your profile. External venue and map links have their own privacy policies.

Reports and deletion

Reports contain the selected offer or event, issue and your optional note. Please do not include sensitive personal details. A daily hash of the connection address helps limit spam. Use Account → Delete my What’s On data to remove your profile and device preferences. This does not delete your ChatGPT account.

Contacting What’s On Local

What’s On Local is responsible for the information you give us. Contact us through the Contact page or email Email What’s On Local. Last updated: 1 October 2026.

When you contact us, we use your name, email address, chosen subject and message to answer your enquiry, correct listings and prevent abuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running this local guide and responding to people who contact us. Providing these details is optional, but without a reply address we cannot respond. We do not add enquirers to a marketing list.

When the online form is connected, messages pass through our hosting provider and Formspree to our business inbox. We do not save a separate copy in the listings database. A hidden spam-check field helps block automated submissions. Please do not send sensitive information or children’s personal details.

Parents & Little Ones

Optional child age ranges help us suggest relevant activities; we do not ask for children’s names or birthdays. Saved activities and age preferences are stored with your account in our hosting database until you remove them or delete your What’s On data. Weekly email choices are separate and optional. We record the wording, time and method of consent; email delivery is not connected yet. You can withdraw by unticking the weekly email choice in Account. We never sell your information.

Group suggestions, including the name and email you provide, are stored privately for the site owner to review and reply. They are not automatically published or used for marketing. If our form service is connected, a copy is also emailed to our inbox. We use this information to handle your request and maintain accurate listings. We aim to remove resolved suggestions within 12 months through owner review. Do not include health information or children’s personal details.

Optional analytics and cookies

Analytics only runs when the service is connected and you have opted in. Google Analytics 4 measures visits, pages, broad referral sources, device types and clicks on venue, directions and offer buttons, plus successful form submissions. It uses browser identifiers and cookies; this information is not anonymous. We do not send form contents, email addresses, search terms, precise device location or account identity to analytics. We do not enable advertising signals or personalised advertising.

We use consent for this optional analytics. Rejecting it does not stop you browsing or contacting us. Use “Cookie settings” in the footer to accept, reject or withdraw consent. Withdrawal stops future analytics and removes this site’s Google Analytics cookies; it does not automatically erase information already collected. Our analytics cookies and saved consent choice expire after 180 days. Saved favourites and preferences stay until you clear them; essential sign-in storage is managed by the sign-in provider. Analytics reports count consenting visitors, not everyone.

How long we keep information

We aim to delete routine enquiries from our inbox and form provider within 12 months of resolving them, unless an ongoing dispute or legal obligation requires longer. This requires periodic manual review. Account preferences remain until you delete them or ask us to remove them. Incorrect-listing reports are reviewed with the listing and retained only while needed to resolve or document the issue. When analytics is connected, its event-level retention is intended to be two months; aggregated reports may last longer.

Providers and your rights

Our hosting, email, form and analytics providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Their applicable contracts and transfer safeguards must be checked before the optional form and analytics services are activated. Formspree privacy information · Google privacy information · Microsoft privacy information.

You can ask to access or correct your personal information, request deletion or restriction, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and request portability where applicable. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time. Contact us using the details above; we normally respond to rights requests within one month. You may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you using automated processing.

Promotional push notifications remain disabled pending delivery and consent setup.

Your search area

Your chosen town and distance are remembered on this device, and saved to your account when signed in. Optional device location is used in page memory only; we never save it or send it to our server. Clearing browser storage removes your device preferences.

Venue map

Opening the map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap. Their servers receive ordinary connection details such as your IP address and browser information. Venue coordinates are stored with our listings; browsing does not send your searches to a geocoding service. Pins are indicative and may show a street or shared premises. Your device location is optional and is not required for the map. OpenStreetMap privacy policy.

Images

Food illustrations are original AI-generated artwork. They do not depict a venue’s actual meals. Venue logos are used to identify independent listings, not to imply endorsement or sponsorship. Logos can be removed on request. Photo sources and credits are recorded separately.
